It tells us the beginning of everything except God. The Torah always maintained its pre-eminence as the basis of the canon but the collection of prophetic writings, based on the Nevi'im, had various hagiographical works incorporated into it. They were for the purpose of keeping before people the fact of their fall and of the coming sacrifice. But still it is a family with which God is dealing. So even though people could draw sustenance from the books of any great spiritual man, they still worship the Bible, for they regard it as ever so lofty and profound. He is a glorious Savior.

The human authors wrote exactly what God wanted them to write, and the result was the perfect and holy Word of God Psalm ; 2 Peter This is why Jesus Christ came to this earth: that He might bear "our sins in his body on the cross" 1 Peter And Abel also brought an offering-fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock" Genesis In these few simple words we have the Bible declaration of the origin of the material universe. Most quotations of the Old Testament in the New Testament, differing by varying degrees from the Masoretic Text, are taken from the Septuagint.

Upon its truths all the future revelation of God to people is built up. Its authorship by Moses, its scientific accuracy and its literal testimony to human sin as deliberate disobedience to God have all been bitterly attacked. In two chapters, God flashes on the wall an account of the creation of the world and of humanity. Those involved in such work know that the matter is much more complex and that translation always involves interpretation. Only when sin is removed can we have fellowship again. In Greek-speaking areas, this happened near the end of the 2nd century, and in Latin-speaking areas at least in North Africait occurred in the middle of the 3rd century.
